Don’t Miss RMI’s Two ProMatDX 2021 Education Seminars On Rack Design And Safety

At ProMatDX 2021, members of the Rack Manufacturers Institute (RMI) will present two separate education sessions covering the safe design and use of industrial steel storage rack. Open to all ProMatDX attendees free of charge, the two sessions will include insights from the current standards for the design, testing and utilization of industrial steel storage racks and address related questions.

The first seminar, “Planning Your Rack System – Traditional and E-Commerce,” will be held on Tuesday, April 13 from 1:30 – 2:00 p.m. Central time. During the presentation, prospective and current users and owners of industrial storage racks will take a 30-minute guided tour of a variety of rack styles and configurations. With a specific focus on racking created to meet the requirements of the e-commerce and multi-channel retail world, the session will explore key design considerations when determining which racking type offers the best and safest solution for a given facility. Takeaways include the critical building blocks of a successful and safe pallet rack system design, as well as the current trends and changes in rack system design to meet the needs of e-commerce order fulfillment.

The second seminar, “Storage Rack Safety 101,” will be presented on Wednesday, April 14 from 1:00 – 1:30 p.m. Central time. Attendees will learn about the comprehensive catalog of resources offered by RMI that can be used to design and implement a safe rack system. These include:

  • The ANSI MH16.1-2012 (R2019) Specification for the Design, Testing and Utilization of Industrial Steel Storage Racks
  • The ANSI MH16.3-2016 Specification for the Design, Testing and Utilization of Industrial Steel Cantilevered Storage Racks
  • The ANSI MH26.2-2017 Specification for the Design, Testing and Utilization of Welded Wire Rack Decking
  • Considerations for the Planning and Use of Industrial Steel Storage Racks
  • Guideline for the Assessment and Repair or Replacement of Damaged Rack

Additionally, the Safety 101 session will feature an overview of the type and frequency of rack inspections to help maintain a rack system in productive working order. Presenters will also detail the types of accessories that can be deployed to further enhance the safety of a rack system by offering a measure of protection from impacts. Finally, the presentation will discuss how to assess rack damage and, if deemed necessary, how to choose between repairing or replacing the damaged components.

Those who are unable to attend the RMI sessions in person may still access the presentations and their accompanying audio via recordings that will be made available online after ProMatDX concludes. Registration for the entire event — including all education seminars — is free.
