Rack safety will be a key focus at MODEX 2026, as manufacturers showcase solutions designed to protect people, facilities, and inventory. Held April 13–16, 2026, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, the event brings together thousands of supply chain and material handling professionals. The exhibit hall will feature a wide range of storage rack systems and safety solutions from Rack Manufacturers Institute (RMI) members. It also offers complementary education sessions focused on practical, real-world applications.
For operations looking to enhance rack safety, system performance, and long-term durability, MODEX 2026 provides a chance to see those solutions up close in one place, said John Schmidt, RMI President and CEO of Rack Builders Inc.
“MODEX provides a valuable forum for seeing how rack manufacturers and solution providers are addressing today’s safety and operational challenges,” Schmidt noted. “From impact protection to system design for automation, RMI members continue to develop solutions that help protect workers, facilities, and inventory.”
Rack Safety Solutions on the Show Floor
As attendees walk the MODEX exhibit halls, they will encounter both proven technologies and new innovations designed to enhance rack safety in a variety of operating environments. These include accessories and products engineered to support new installations, extend the life of existing rack systems, and reduce the risk of damage caused by daily forklift traffic.

Rack Safety Highlighted in Free Education Seminars
Beyond the exhibits, RMI will again present complimentary educational sessions at MODEX 2026. These presentations are free to all registered MODEX attendees and take place in theater spaces located throughout the exhibit halls.

RMI’s two MODEX seminars address both foundational rack safety practices and forward-looking system design considerations.
Pallet Racking Systems & Design for an Automated Future
This session explores the specialized requirements for rack designs in order to support automation technologies. Speakers will discuss load consistency, tolerances, anchoring, and system behavior. The presentation will also highlight why early collaboration and standards-based design are critical in automated environments. Scheduled Monday, April 13 from noon – 12:45 p.m. Eastern time, the session is in Theater C on the right-hand side of Hall C.
Storage Rack Safety 101
This session provides a practical overview of common rack damage, inspection best practices, and safety accessories that help reduce risk. Attendees will learn what to inspect, why it matters, and how proactive rack safety programs support compliance, uptime, and worker protection. Held on Tuesday, April 14 from 10:30 – 11:15 a.m. Eastern time, the presentation is in the MHI Industry Groups Theater on the right-hand side of Hall B.
Extend Rack Safety Learning Beyond MODEX
For those unable to attend MODEX—or looking to continue learning afterward—RMI offers a variety of rack safety resources online. These include videos, technical guidance, and educational materials designed to help end users better understand safe rack design, installation, inspection, and operation. Publications and more are online at mhi.org/rmi.
